About Colter
Colter Mahlum is the founder and CEO of Mahlum Innovations, an AI consulting firm based in Bigfork, Montana. He started the company with a simple thesis. Most mid-market businesses don't need another deck about AI. They need someone who has actually shipped production systems into messy, regulated, real-world environments and can do the same for them.
Colter is a mechanical engineer by training, with a B.S. from Gonzaga University in 2016. The first decade of his career was spent inside hardware companies. He designed mechanical assemblies for telecom infrastructure on the East Coast, then led the quality organization for an FAA-regulated avionics manufacturer in northwest Montana. Those years gave him an unusually deep appreciation for the operational discipline that AI systems demand: traceable data, validated processes, accountable owners, and a willingness to instrument everything you ship.
That engineering DNA is what makes Mahlum Innovations different from the typical AI consultancy. Colter doesn't sell pilots that die in PowerPoint. He builds systems that operations teams trust on day one and still trust three years later, because they were designed with the same rigor as the safety-critical hardware he used to ship.
Today he personally leads every Mahlum Innovations engagement. He has shipped 11+ production AI deployments spanning manufacturing operations, RIA wealth management platforms, multi-location healthcare, smart-home integrators, sports analytics, and AI-powered fitness applications.
